Embers of the Sun – A Yuletide EP by The Chantress

Embers of the Sun winter solstice EP by The Chantress

November 21st 2025, I released something very close to my heart: my new Yuletide EP, Embers of the Sun.

Embers of the Sun – A Yuletide EP by The Chantress

This small collection was shaped for the quiet hours of winter – the evenings when the light fades early, candles become companions, and everything feels a little more hushed. It’s music created for the dark half of the year, for the stillness before the turning, and for those drawn to the beauty of midwinter.

If your love for music lives somewhere between Enya, Loreena McKennitt, old choral traditions and nature-steeped winter soundscapes, this EP was made with you in mind.

About Embers of the Sun

Embers of the Sun is built from layered harmonies, soft atmospheric textures, and a deep love of ancient-feeling melody. It sits between forest and cathedral – rooted in nature, but echoing with the spaciousness of stone and silence.

This is music for Solstice evenings, slow walks, candlelit rooms, or simply for sitting with the season as it is: dark, beautiful, and full of quiet promise.

Track List

Each piece holds a different shade of the season.

A pair of hands holding a glowing candle in a dark, snowy forest with tall evergreen trees and soft falling snow, featuring the text 'Silent Night' and 'The Chantress' above.

1. Silent Night
A wordless, all-vocal interpretation arranged like a drifting choral piece. Built from layered harmony rather than lyrics and woven into a shimmering tapestry of voice.

A snowy holly branch with bright red berries, illuminated by a glowing sunset in a winter landscape. The title 'The Holly King' and the artist name 'The Chantress' are displayed in elegant font.

2. The Holly King
This beautiful song was written by Alan Sherman and I first heard it performed by MaddRegaeles Muse. A winter tale based in myth and legend; told through harmony and melody. This track carries the feeling of deep midwinter; ancient, powerful, and still, with a sense of the turning that’s always on its way, even in the longest night.

A glowing campfire surrounded by snow-covered trees, illuminated by a starry night sky, evoking a sense of warmth and tranquility for the winter season.

3. The Longest Night (O Come, O Come, Emmanuel)
A reimagining of the traditional melody with entirely new lyrics, shaped around the Winter Solstice, the stillness of December, and the quiet return of light. Soft, expansive, and deeply rooted in seasonal imagery.
