Nothing’s lost, only changed.

There comes a moment in the turning year when day and night stand briefly in balance.

Mabon lives in that moment.

Inspired by the autumn equinox and the changing natural world, the song moves through falling leaves, shifting winds and the gathering dark, not as an ending, but as transformation. At its heart is the refrain “Nothing’s lost, only changed”, a reminder that change is woven into everything.

The natural world has a way of reminding us of things we so easily forget. The leaf falls. The seed disappears beneath the soil. The light retreats. And still, life continues becoming.

We hold our breath in equipoise.

Layered vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar, atmospheric synths and a cinematic sense of space carry Mabon between the earthly and the otherworldly, reflecting the suspension of the equinox itself. It is an invitation to stand for a moment at the threshold between abundance and release, light and shadow, outwardness and the journey inward.

Lyrics

Trees touched by flaming kisses
Reds and golds begin to glow
Spiral in to Autumn’s wishes
Drifting to and fro

In the crunch of Summer
Leaves crisp, sweat drips
And I find myself in your balmy arms
Waiting for the wind and the moon

Journey’s end, John Barleycorn
Nodding heads, bending stems
Ready to rest quietly
Sing soul into earthen bed

Leaves will fall
Winds will blow
I am journeying inward
Nothing’s lost
Only changed
as the circle goes round

Sun soaked leaves of hunter green
Seeds heavy on the boughs
Dusty pathways wind away
Begging for rain to breathe again

I am whole
I am ever changing
I am softly fearless
Deciduous, evergreen
I am whole
I am ever changing
I am softly fearless
Deciduous, evergreen

We hold our breath in equipoise
Night and day face to face
in perfect embrace
The scales tip, and so we embark

Leaves will fall
Winds will blow
I am journeying inward
Nothing’s lost
Only changed
as the circle goes round

Leaves will fall
Winds will blow
I am journeying inward
Nothing’s lost
Only changed
as the circle goes round

Circle goes round
Circle goes round
Circle goes round
Circle goes round
Circle goes round
Circle goes round
